Imagining You Game

Today we learned a little more about flash. We actually did it all by ourselfs without Chez's help. We also discussed with our partners what our game is going to be. Jessica and I are doing a game about money and littering in West Virginia. I really thing our game is going to be hard because it will have a lot of action frames and a lot of other stuff. All of the tutorials on the flash page were about changing the fonts and stuff and I already know how to do all of that so that kind of excited me. I'm really excited about making our game. My partner is very good at all of this stuff and I still have a lot of stuff to learn. The only thing that I don't like is the fact that it has to be educational and not our choice. But we will deal with it because we havve a really cool game idea. This is going to be a lot of fun!!!

The Anglo Saxon Blog

I just got finished reading the stories of Gilgamesh and another version of another battle which contained Achilles in it. These two ancient time war hero's are one of a kind and are hard to compare to a video game but here we go. I think the story of Gilgamesh was amazing how he defeated that forest man and it was kind of like the game Halo. I know that game is based on aliens and stuff but the guy has to defeat big monsters all the time by himself. It really isn't a good comparison but it's the only thing I can think of. Now the story of Achilles is well known all around the world. He is know for being a one man show and doing everything by himself, he is also known for being very cocky. So the game that he kind of compares to Grand Theft Auto. The character in that game is very cocky and does everything by himself. He isn't a god or a war professional but you get the idea. If video game designers decided to make a game based off of these two heros then I think it would be a very sweet game. But these days all of the games are violent and cruel.

Blog on the Rabbit Game

So we just got finished with the mini game with the rabbit and the carrot and it was very difficult. I think this is going to take a lot of work and time to create our actual game. This was one of the hardest things to understand but when we understood the code it became a little bit easier. The hardest part was probably putting the game on the wikis. In my free time I really don't play any games because I have a lot of things that I have to do. But if I do play games it would be some kind of sport games or something like that. Hopefully this gets more easier!!!!!

Beowulf Part 2

I just got finished reading part 2 of Beowulf and I thought it was a good poem. Even though Beowulf died at the end because of the dragons poison he still died with honor. The people respected him enough to burry him with the dragons treasure instead of keeping it for theirself. Beowulf made people believe that they can do anything that they wanted to if they put their mind to it. He made them believe that no matter how hard it is to not give up. The people, even after he died, still talked about all the battles he won and all of the stuff he did for his country.

Audience Post

Well I just got finished reading part 1 of Beowulf and I'm not going to lay it was confusing at first but now i kind of understand it. I think when the person created Beowulf he wanted to send a message to everyone. If you have confidence in yourself it will take you a long way. Take Beowulf for instance, he was so confident that he could slay Grendel and everyone else kind of doubted him but he did. I think when the men were in the mead halls before Beowulf actually came were kind of excited that he was coming to save them from that horrible monster. But when he got there, one man questioned him. He thought that Beowulf was just a show off and thought he was in over his head with Grendel. I really don't want our game to just be another game on here that kids are forced to play. My partner and I want our game to be a game that people want to play on their free time and actually have fun with it.

Quickwrite on Beowulf

Right now I'm blogging about my favorite superhero and that would have to be spider man. Some of the evils he faces isn't only from evil villains but it is also from his society. He has to keep his identity hidden and it would be hard to hear people criticize him and not be able to say anything to them. He confronts evil because before he ever became spider man, his uncle was murdered on the streets. Before that he was bitten by a spider in a museum and it gave him powers. But his uncle is definitely his motivation to fight off evil. He comfronts evil for the sake of the people in the city. He doesn't just do it because he can. He does it to show people that evil can be defeated. One of the main virtues is that he doesn't fight evil just because he can like I just said a little while ago. He does it for the sake of the people and he keeps his uncle in his mind the whole time he does it. He always gives people a chance but if they don't make the right decision he will take them out.

Beowolf Part 1 Post

We are reading Beowulf in English class and I will admit that it was really confusing at first. Then when I continued to read, it got a lot easier. At the beginning of the story there is a monster named Grendel and he is killing all the men in a hall named Heorot. One by one the monster is slaughtering the men and taking them back to his layer and eat them. But the monster never went after the king,Hrothgar. After 12 years went by the Geats heard about what was going on at Heorot and decided to go over there and try to help. Beowulf took 12 men over sea to Heorot. When the king is reminded that Beowulf help his father out with a fued, he gladly welcomed them. The king had a feast for the Geats and they drank and ate. Then the Queen came out with the mead-cup and offered it to everyone and when she got to Beowulf he told her that either he would kill this monster or die trying.
That is what I have read this far. I do think Beowulf meets the requirements of a hero. From the stories he has told the people about how he survived in the sea for 7 days. He is also very confident in his war tactics and strengths. I don't know if he would be a good educational hero for a video game though because he might be over confident.

My Playing To Learn Experience

When I started playing these games I had no idea what my partner and I was going to do with our games. But since I have played the professional games and the games that other Globaloria students have created we have some ideas. Most of these games deal with real life situations like the Darfur genocide. These games let people know whats going on in the world.

These are the two games I did my assignment on:
