FINAL POST

Wow this is going to be my final post of my senior year. It just went by so fast. I remember when we first came into Chez's class and we figured out that we was creating a video game for our senior project. At first we all thought that this was going to be easy. But as we started doing the lessons, like the mini game project, it got a lot harder. When Jess chose me as a partner I figured that we would just breeze right threw this game. But once we got started it got very difficult. Our paper prototype was easy but then we had to make it in flash. This is when everything got difficult. We had coding issues and all of that other crazy stuff. Then to cap it off Chez made us present a day early and we haven't even practiced. I think we did pretty good.
This was a really fun class. I have had Chez for three years now and this was deffinately the funnest class. Of course we had to do some William Sheakespeare, which we all hated because we didn't understand it at all. But a certain someone lead me to a site that put it into our language. I am glad that I didn't have to do all of that book work. I really appreciate Globaloria for letting us do this for our English 12 class. I couldn't of asked for a better senior year English class. I had fun and everyone else did.

Other Team's Games

I visted Ashley and Chad's game and I really like the concept. They have really cool picutres and a lot of buttons. There isn't really anything I would change. They stook with their idea and all of the questions are really interesting. I didn't know any of those answers and it was really educational. I like all of the drawings from their game and I wish we had put a little more of that. Here is their game : http://www.myglife.org/usa/wv/rhswiki/index.php/Team:Thing_1_%26_Thing_2

The other game I visited was Randy, Nick, and Rusty's game. I like the idea but they're buttons and stuff isn't put together just yet. They had to make a lot of pages for the different outcomes. So for them to get finshed they need a little more time. The game has a very good idea and it would help people learn how to make good decisions for their families. If they get all of their stuff straightened out it would be a really cool game.

Adding Interaction Blog

So we are getting closer to the end of the school year and I'm not liking flash anymore than I did earlier. It's getting frustrating and harder as time goes on. I like the class and the advisor it's just all of the codes and other stuff that is really getting under my teammates skin. Our game topic is about recycling and earning money in West Virgina. As you collect more trash the more money you get and the more prizes you get. We have a lot of stuff done but we just need to get multiple stuff to fall from the sky. We have been on this problem for like two weeks.

West Virgina

West Virgina is one of the most criticized states in America. But the thing people doesn't know is that we come together when a disaster happened like it happened the other day. That's what makes our state great. We lost 25 hard working people in Whitesville at the Upper Big Branch Mine due to a methane gas explosion. Everywhere you go you will see please pray for our miners. These people might not even know anyone that was lost in these mines like I did. But that's the thing with our state. When something tragic happens like this we pray for the families that are hurt. I love this state and I couldn't move because everyone is so nice here. Technology here isn't like what it is in other states because we don't have a lot of money. Technology hasn't really hurt us but it wouldn't hurt to try and get some kind of communication in the mines if something like this ever happened again. I would love to see some kind of telephone or walky talky or something to help the miners communicate with rescue team. We, as people that live in West Virgina, are perceived as rednecks, hillbilly's, inbred, anything like that. It makes me mad when I hear this kind of stuff because not all of us are like that. I mean yeah we do have a different accent and yes most of us live up hollows but that doesn't make us hillbilly's or anything. If people came here for one week and see how we lend a hand to people in need I bet money that they wished that their home was as loving as West Virginia.

PJ Blog Post

PJ is a flash god. He helped everyone in our class with the button things. Before he came in last Thursday I had no idea what I was doing. Jessica was doing the flash stuff and I was doing our team page. Now since he helped me I can actually help her. I don't feel as helpless now. THANKS PJ!

The Button Post

We just finshed putting buttons on our game and this stuff is probably the hardest stuff we have ever done. We just can't figure out how to switch screens when we press the button. We will figure it out sooner or later, but it will probably take a while. I say once we get over this little bump in the road it won't take anytime at all for us to get our game perfected. This will probably be the hardest part besides getting our trash can moving around the screen while the trash is falling. Chez warned us that it was hard so we were prepared for it!

The Canterbury Tales

So we just started reading the Canterbury Tales and its very interesting how Chaucer describes his characters in the book. First I will give you a description on what the tale is about. Chaucer is staying at a hotel and he meets these people. Then after talking to these people he decides that he will join their pilgrimage. Then as the journey begins he writes about what the characters look and act like.
First, Chaucer describes the knight. He says that the knight is a noble man which fought in the Crusades. He was dressed in a fustian tunic that has a rust on it. The knight brings his son along with him on the journey. He is named the Squire. The Squire loves to sing and play his flute. He is a 20 year old man that has red and white flowers embedded on his clothes. And the last person in their group was the Yeoman. He was a servant that was very heavily armed with arrows, a sword, a dagger, an arm shield, and a buckler. He also had his bow in his hands at all times.
Now Chaucer is describing the nun. Her favorite oath is “By St. Loy!” She sings religious tunes and has excellent table manners. She really cares about animals. She would probably cry if a mouse gets killed in a trap. She also has two dogs with her. She feeds them roasted flesh or milk. Her secretary rides along with her.
These are some of the characters in the book. They spread from the man of law, to the carpenter, to a doctor. I think Chaucer chose these characters because they all had a purpose for being there. They wouldn't just be on a pilgrimage if they didn't have a particular skill. You had the doctor in case you got sick on the way there. You had the knight and his son just in case you have trouble on the way there. They just all had a purpose to be there. When Chaucer describes these characters, he does it so well that I can almost see them right in front of my face. I think if I actually saw these people in real life this is what the people would look like.
In our game there isn't a human character. We have a trash can but if the people didn't know that it was a trash can then the game wouldn't make any sense. It is a huge part of our game. Describing characters isn't only important in books and movies. It is really important in games also. If the person playing the game doesn't have a good description of the characters then the they wouldn't understand the purpose of our game. I can't wait until we make our game!!\

This cite really help me understand the characters:
